This research dealt with optimization of environmental performance of low-rise houses. Four different houses were optimized such as a gable-roof house, a hip-roof house, a square-base house, and an L-base house. A multi-objective optimization and Pareto solutions were found in Design Builder software by minimizing both CO2 emissions and thermal discomfort. Suggested alternative solution combinations were given, and compared to the values prior to the optimization. The results indicated valuable benefits of optimization. It can be concluded that the pitched roof house and the L- base house gave better results than that of other houses. Compared to starting values, the CO2 emissions were decreased by 27% for the square based house upon optimization, while the L-base house had a decrease of 29%.en_US
