dc.description.abstractThe numerical assessment of the structural integrity of the tibia-implant determined through the values of the failure index is presented in this paper. Finite element model is created on the real geometry of tibia and implant that was taken using ATOS 3D scanner. Since the material structure of the tibia is orthotropic, to assess the integrity using the continuum failure mechanism, Tsai-Wu failure criterion was used. Based on this criterion the failure indices are determined in each integration point. Field of the failure index values in the model is shown graphically. The zones of possible failure are identified via failure index values.en_US
