Uticaj fonetskog okruženja na usvajanje interdentalnih frikativa u englesko-srpskoj međujezičkoj fonologiji

Abstract

The paper explores the effect of phonetic context on the perception and production of English voiced and voiceless interdental fricatives by Serbian EFL students. The present study represents a continuation of the previous preliminary research within sociolinguistic framework (Димитријевић-Савић, Јеротијевић, 2011) in which we concluded that under the influence of transfer the principal differential substitute for the previously mentioned sounds are dental /t/ and /d/. The primary goal now is to determine the phonetic context in which differential substitution predominates, i.e. if there is a statistically significant difference in the perception and production depending on the sounds’ distribution in a word. The total of 40 EFL students participated in the study.
