Title: Uticaj fonetskog okruženja na usvajanje interdentalnih frikativa u englesko-srpskoj međujezičkoj fonologiji
Authors: Jerotijevic Tisma, Danica
Issue Date: 2014
Abstract: The paper explores the effect of phonetic context on the perception and production of English voiced and voiceless interdental fricatives by Serbian EFL students. The present study represents a continuation of the previous preliminary research within sociolinguistic framework (Димитријевић-Савић, Јеротијевић, 2011) in which we concluded that under the influence of transfer the principal differential substitute for the previously mentioned sounds are dental /t/ and /d/. The primary goal now is to determine the phonetic context in which differential substitution predominates, i.e. if there is a statistically significant difference in the perception and production depending on the sounds’ distribution in a word. The total of 40 EFL students participated in the study.
