| Abstract: | Taking into account that the Byzantine Empire’s identity cannot be fully understood without exploring the identity of its capital, the paper examines Constantinople as a discursive and hybrid entity. By analyzing the development of urban structures and taking into consideration poststructuralist interpretations of the textual and spatial, the paper’s primary objective is to offer an answer to the question of ontological foundation of the city and human subject. |
