Title: Ontologija nemogućeg: fikcija, teorija, matriks
Authors: Lojanica, Marija

Issue Date: 2013
Abstract: The motif of cyberspace is rooted within the illusion which we intensely experience while gazing into a space which is “within” or “beyond” the computer flat screen. According to Fredric Jameson, it is a paraspace, that is a dimension of the metaworld that is always projected into the future. One of the goals of the paper is to reexamine McHale’s hypothesis as to what degree the aforementioned spaces are the representative examples of Foucault’s heterotopias as the impossible spaces of the disparate discursive orders (in cyberpunk the latter are referred to as disparate microworlds). On the other hand, according to Foucault, heterotopias are the spaces and places which occupy the real, existent space. Thereof, the paper shall attempt to reexamine the dialectic relationship between space and paraspace, that is to say the one between space and non-space, referring to processes the result of which is the dialectic relationship in question.
