Title: Вишезначност микротопонима у роману Семољ земља Мира Вуксановића
Authors: Pavlović, Jelena
Issue Date: 2014
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to analyse the polysemy of microtoponyms in the novel Semolj zemlja, written by Miro Vuksanović. We have identified different types of polysemy in the novel. The first type is the simple polysemy, the second is the referential polysemy, after which we have the descriptive polysemy, followed by the polysemy of origin and finally the textual polysemy. In this paper we have found that names are regarded as icons. In other words, the microtoponym, both with its form and its content, is the exact replica of a designated place. This aspect of meaning within the microtoponyms is the basis for forming a connotative meaning, especially at the moment of naming an entity. In the paper we have also introduced a concept of alternative naming, based on the binary opposition between name given in the Semolj community and the name given outside of it.
