Title: TRANSFORMACIJA BAJKE U PEKIĆEVOM NOVOM JERUSALIMU
Authors: Anđelković, Jovana
Issue Date: 2023
Abstract: The starting point of this research is a structural analysis of Pekić’s gothic chronicle New Jerusalem from the aspect of the morphological model of studying fairy tales, set by Vladimir Prop. The research process is reflected in finding the individual functions of fairy tales, the meaning and significance of their presence/absence in the work, and the procedure and intentions of their transformation. In accordance with Prop’s definition of structure, which presupposes the union of composition as a constant and plot as a variable substitute of a fairy tale, this analysis strives to show repeatable elements of that structure in terms of individual plots. In this context, we point out several levels of modification of the bibliocentric idea of salvation and subsequent harmonious unity, which now reveals itself as a plurality in the founding of the New Jerusalem as the New Fairy Tale. The concluding segment presents the reasons for the possibility of reading the New Jerusalem as a work whose original template could have been a fairy tale, with the aim of distinguishing between fairy tales and myths and the knowledge they establish in the domain of the collective unconscious.
