Title: POLOVI I JEZIK U KONTEKSTU RADNOG MESTA (STUDENTSKA MENZA)
Authors: Todorović, Milan
Matic, Aleksandar
Issue Date: 2015
Abstract: Тhe subject of this paper is the exploration of the behavior as well as discourse analysis of the female and male workers of the student’s cafeteria “Vita Janić” in Kragujevac. The main focus of this study is not gender (in)equality, but on the relation between discourse and the working environment. We will endeavor to answer the following question – does (and to what degree) our gender influence our communication at the workplace. The key component in the context that we observe is politeness. Our initial hypothesis is that the female workers will be more polite than the males. The paper itself consists of a theoretical framework, a description of the analysis and a presentation of the results, verification of the initial hypothesis and at the very end there will be a discussion section involving the results. After the analysis, we have come to the conclusion that the initial hypothesis was correct in principle. However, we have noted a few exceptions to the general rule. These exceptions are given in the discussion section as well.
