Град, идентитет и писање у роману Лист на корици хлеба Срђана Ваљаревића

Abstract

The paper is based on the interpretation of the basic poetic assumptions of the novel „List na korici hleba” by Srdjan Valjarevic. We searched for symbolic images of the city, studying the architecture of the presented urban space, which is closely related to the (re)constitution of identity. The urban living space and the experience of the city as such can serve for understanding the intimate world of the novel’s heroes, and in principle the achievements achieved by relational reference to the city-identity-man-writing are reexamined. We will also pay attention to the consideration of the peculiarities of the heroes of the novel versus the Baudelaire type of walker (flâneur), who most often recognizes destructive semiotic urban signs by walking in urban space. The interest in the process of changing the identity of the novel’s narrator stemmed from his transcendental unfoundedness in the space in which he resides. By noticing the narrative actions that Valjarević used in forming the narrative structure of his novel, we noticed similarities with his later work
