Abstract: The legal texts are often criticized by linguists because of anonymity and impersonality, as well as the use of the syntactic constructions. In this manner it is difficult to understand the text (Klikovac 2008). The excessive use of genitive forms in the noun syntagms and preposition-case constructions (Tošović 2002) is particularly evident. The aim of this paper is to analyse the forms of the nonprepositional and preposition-case noun syntagms on the examples taken from the University of Kragujevac Statute. Apart from this, the aim is also in the analysis of the use of nominal and decomposed construction, and explicit categorization and its contribution to the understanding of the text. Also, we will show to what extent the use of such constructions contributes to the avoiding of redundancy and to the improved economics of the text which is the main characteristics of this style.
