The­aim­of­ the­ text­is­ to­ pro­vi­de­a­ bri­ef­over­vi­ew­of­ the­ re­cep­ti­on­of­ the­ po­e­try­of­ John­Don­ne­ wit­hin­En­glish­li­te­rary­cir­cles­from­the­ ti­me­of­ its­ ge­ne­sis­to­ the­ pre­sent,­as­ well­as­ to­ pro­vi­de­an­ equ­i­va­lent­sur­vey­of­ the­re­cep­ti­on­of­ Don­ne’s­po­e­try­wit­hin­the­do­me­stic­are­na.­Be­a­ring­in­mind­Don­ne’s­newly­esta­blis­hed­sta­tus­of­ one­of­ the­ gre­a­test­En­glish­po­ets,­the­ text­co­mes­to­ the­con­clu­si­on­that­his­ po­e­try­is­ not­ade­qu­a­tely­re­ce­i­ved­and­re­cog­ni­zed­wit­hin­the­ do­me­stic­li­te­rary­sce­ne.­
