Abstract: Increased importance and presence of information society services, and in particular of the services of online platforms, have called upon the response from the European legislator. The result of the described need is the new legal regime of digital services and digital markets in the EU law. The main subject of this paper is the review of the most important provisions of the Digital Services Act, as well as the novelties brought upon compared to the current regime established by the Electronic Commerce Directive. In the first part of the paper, the author analyses the subject matter and territorial scope of application of the Digital Services Act. In the second part of the paper, two most important groups of provisions are considered: rules on the liability for illegal content, and rules on due diligence obligations owned by online intermediaries.
