The paper presents the basic tasks and methods of biological monitoring of the ecological condition of the environment, which include bioindication and biotesting. Possibilities of application of living organisms in bioindication research are considered, especially indicator species, which due to their genetic, physiological, anatomical and other characteristics are able to survive in a narrow interval of a certain factor, indicating the presence of that factor in the environment.en_US
