Title: Apsurd, muzika i dupla bajka Aleksandra Popovića
Authors: Vasileva, Olja
Issue Date: 2023
Abstract: The variation of the Cinderella motif from the earliest world records, through the Serbian folk fairy tale, then the fairy tales of the same name by Charles Perrault and the Brothers Grimm, in the pen of Aleksandar Popović and through the years marked by the international turn in singing and storytelling for children and young people, is confirmed as a literary and historically relevant text. The poetic interweaving that Popović creates is, first of all, reflected in the co-mixing of genres signing the name of “pataphysical” drama by Alfred Jarry in a completely new, modern shape and atmosphere. Under such a cover, it is only possible for Popović’s sense of the Balkan mentality, presented in all his plays, to speak, as well as his sense of poetic enigmas. In many ways, this dramatic fairy tale represents a literary base for postmodernist (music, text, fragmentary) and neo-avantarde tones (visual children’s literature).
