This paper is presenting the test results of certain physical properties of rocks excavated from four quarries in Serbia. Rocks, from which the building stone is prepared, consist of various minerals, namely of physically and chemically homogeneous aggregates. The rock aggregates are used for building the driveway constructions layers on roads, streets, airports and base layers on railways. Here are considered only the most important types of building stones: limestone, dolomite marble, calcite-dolomite marble and andesite. In selection of rocks for depositing on roads, it is necessary to know their general as well as specific properties. This is why investigations of various properties of those rock types are conducted. Here performed tests of the physical properties included determination of volumetric and specific mass and porosity and tendency to absorb water.en_US
