Abstract: Coated sheets are made in order to improve application possibilities of base material which has relatively weak mechanical properties, by application of layer of another material with thickness of 10-20% to their surface. Coated layer is applied to one or both sides. Most commonly coated are carbon or low alloy steels. They are usually coated with a layer of stainless steel or some of the non-ferrous metals or alloys. Coating layer is applied by rolling or explosion (welding is not applied). Welding of such parts is connected with many problems of technological nature, which can lead to a decrease of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance if proper procedure is not implemented. This article shows probems which can occur and procedures for their removing. Primarily in the form of a parts preparation for welding. First, the types of coated layers are analized. then , they are classified from the standpoint of thickness and availability. Preparation conditions are stated at the end.
