Development of high strength steel sheets (HSS) is lasting more than two decades, starting from microalloyed to TRIP, SULC, and other multiphase HSS. Application of HSS is increasing particularly in automotive industry because they have very favorable relation of weight to stiffness. Presented in the paper are critical review of most relevant HSS properties with experimental results of formability obtained on Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Kragujevac (Serbia and Montenegro). Special attention was paid to problems at plastic forming of this sheets (deflection etc.). Also, specific formability properties and appropriate experimental tests are considered. Practical countermeasure which need to take for compensation forming problems of HSS are given in conclusions.en_US
