This paper gives survey of light materials characteristics for manufacture of particular car body elements made of such materials: high strength steel, new Al-alloy, steel-plastic laminate the sheets. Also, some directions of the development in the area of deep drawing process control are given, first of all control of blank holding force in forming. Considering the specific demands regarding the car body stiffness. Formability elements of so called "tailored" sheet" metals are given, i.e. formability elements of previously cut out sheet metal elements of various thickness, which are after laser welding joined together into undivided blank ready for deep drawing. For a particular type of these sheets are presented experimental results, which contain standard and special parameters of formability, forming limit indicators etc.en_US
