| Abstract: | This review paper directs us towards a better understanding of the fundamental meaning of the biological nitrogen cycle, the role of diazotrophic bacteria in this process, the negative consequences of intensive use of nitrogen mineral fertilizers, the application of diazotrophic bacteria in modern agriculture, as well as the symbiosis between these bacteria and higher eukaryotic organisms (plants, animals). |
