Abstract: The development of new digital technologies represents one of the most significant challenges for the improvement of insurance services in modern conditions. The emergence of new technologies forces insurance companies to find ways and opportunities to implement digital technologies in their activities. Digitization in insurance contributes to changing the way insurance companies do business, affects the process of product design, sales, interaction with consumers and numerous other processes along the value chains in insurance. In order to adequately respond to changes and competition, traditional insurers must recognize and respond to modern insurance trends in time. The aim of this paper is to present some of the digital technologies (e.g. smart contracts, blockchain, artificial intelligence) and the possibilities of application to the insurance industry. In the following text, having in mind the complexity of the topic and the limited scope of work, a review will be made of the possibilities and effects of applying artificial intelligence in insurance. It also explores the impact of digitization on the regulatory framework, as well as the challenges and opportunities brought by this rapid technological advancement.
