Abstract: The paper interprets one of the symbolic meanings of stars in the poetry of Giovanni Pascoli based on selected poems from the collections Tamarix (Myricae) and Poems from Castelvecchio (Canti di Castelvecchio). The aim of the paper is to point out the central position of stars in Pascoli’s work and his poetics within the concept of the cosmic connection between the earth and the sky. At the same time, a parallel is drawn with the work of Vincent Van Gogh, in whose paintings the stars are carriers of the same meaning. In this way, a broader presentation of the deep universality of the aforementioned feeling of the connection between the earth and the sky is given and the effects of Pascoli’s verses, or rather, Van Gogh’s paintings, are evoked.
