Abstract: By mapping Lyotard’s and Baudrillard’s discursive space, the paper seeks to investigate their respective figures and topoi in the context of constructing postmodern paradigms via the concept of the schism encompassing both discourses. Baudrillard’s discourse insists on the virtual nature of hyperreality, insomuch as Lyotard’s constructs the discursive one. Finally, the paper briefly addresses the issue of the nature of postmodern (poststructural) theoretical apparatus, consequently the status of the postmodernism representing another manufactured cultural artefact.
