| Abstract: | The concept communication competence is commonly used to denote a universal system of competences in various contexts of communication, and as such it is the topic of numerous studies. Even so, the practical context for demonstrating communication competence demands researchers to consider different cultural frameworks for effective communication. The interconnections between culture and communication are explored by various sciences and specific disciplines, but the contribution to the study of intercultural communication competence in this paper mostly relies on the anthropological approaches and the psychology of communication and communicology. The communication was analysed on the basis of selected cultural dimensions that significantly influence teachers’ communication competence, such as: individualism–collectivism, high–low communication context, and egocentric–sociocentric culture. Intercultural communication competence was considered a practical response to the appreciation of cultural differences and similarities. A framework was proposed in the context of teachers' professional activities in a multicultural environment – framework for teachers’ training for encouraging students' development of intercultural competence. |
