Abstract: Collaborative employment is a new form of work in which independent workers, micro-enterprises, and self-employed individuals join forces and work together to overcome challenges in the labor market. This model enables a larger number of labor market participants to jointly carry out specific tasks for a third party without establishing a formal employment relationship. The legal relationships they enter into go beyond the scope of traditional labor law and are increasingly viewed as a consequence of the growing “sharing economy” – which, in its broadest sense, allows a large number of individuals to make use of underutilized assets or resources that would otherwise remain unused. In this paper, the author explore various models of collaborative employment and provide a summarized overview of the challenges that such modalities of cooperation may pose to established business practices.
