The rules governing the financial services contracts concluded at a distance have a relatively short history, with varying approaches to the way in which they should be regulated. In our law, distance contracts were first regulated by the Consumer Protection Act of 2002, but the current Consumer Protection Act, due to harmonisation with EU legislation, does not contain provisions on the distance contracting of financial services. With the adoption of Directive EU 2023/2673, the approach to regulating financial services contracts concluded at a distance is changing, by placing distance contracting of financial services within the scope of the rules of Directive EU 2011/83 on consumer rights, under the conditions set out in Directive EU 2023/2673. In this regard, the article presents the developmental stages in the regulation of financial services, followed by the general rules that must be met in their regulation, and finally the general and special rules that regulate the financial services contracts concluded at a distance.en_US
