| dc.description.abstract | The modern society tendencies are reshaping the perception of companies’ role in the market and society. Contemporary consideration of the companies highlights the social responsibility of business to protect and prevent risks to the human rights. This approach aligns closely with the concepts of corporate social responsibility and sustainable business. In the context of the sustainable business concept, the social aspect of sustainability (social sustainability) plays a crucial role. Social sustainability has a fundamental role in companies' commitments to respecting human rights and promoting equality. There are two levels of social sustainability. The first level pertains to the internal environment of the company, focusing on the obligation of the company to respect the human rights of employees. The second level involves the company’s responsibilities toward the broader society. The beginning point of this analysis will be examining social sustainability, its components and its significance. The most significant part of the paper will be a detailed observation on the most significant human rights for which companies must take measures actively in order to respect them. Specifically, we would examine gender equality, employer rights (employers' well-being), and the right to a healthy environment. These core human rights form the foundation of social sustainability. This analysis would be given from the perspective of international organizations’ documents, but also from the perspective of the regulatory framework established by the European Union. | en_US |
