Abstract: This paper presents a semantic-pragmatic analysis of the lexeme fazon within the framework of the Relevance Theory. The study has two primary aims: (1) to determine the type of encoded meaning associated with the lexeme, distinguishing between conceptual and procedural semantics, and (2) to establish the communicative level at which the expression operates, i.e. whether it contributes to explicit or implicit communication. The analysis is based on data extracted from the CLARIN corpus, which contains 3843 instances of the lexeme fazon. While the majority of occurrences exhibit conceptual meaning (e.g. style, trick), a subset of 15 examples displays procedural meaning. Within this subset, 10 instances express approximation (about, roughly), and 5 express exemplification (for example). The procedural meaning of approximation is realized exclusively through the independent use of the lexeme fazon, whereas the procedural meaning of exemplification is manifested through three syntactic constructions: (1) independent use of fazon, (2) the pragmatic cluster kao fazon, and (3) the pragmatic cluster ono fazon. A shared characteristic of these procedural encodings is their function in weakening explicitly communicated content by guiding interpretation towards approximate or typical values within the propositional scope.
