Abstract: © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG. The paper presents the results of the Serbian national project “Development of methodologies and means for noise protection of urban areas” after eight years of work (2011–2018). Initially designed to last for four years; the project was extended and represented an important contribution to the development of technological basis for creation and implementation of noise protection policies in Serbia. The paper has presented the resources committed to the realization of the project, publications, registered technical achievements, as well as Ph.D. thesis and other results achieved in the course of the project duration. The project impact and a lack of an institutional response up to now are also discussed.
