With the development of computer technologies and especially the great breakthrough of smartphone technology, augmented reality (AR) has become present in various fields and, therefore, the research and development of this technology has become very important. Due to its specific properties, engineers apply it in many areas, and special priority is given to medical and biomedical applications. In this chapter, we have summarized some of the simple ways of applying AR and its technical characteristics and technological superiority of AR technology through generic code examples and given some examples of how AR can be used successfully in medicine and biomedical engineering. Our work presents a useful introduction to AR capabilities to researchers in the area of bioengineering and those who aim to use this new technology in medical practice.-
