Abstract: Lowering fuel consumption and exhaust emissions continue to be prime targets in the development of technology applied for Motor Vehicles and their equipment. The focuses of attention are the reductions of the vehicle weight, as well as internal combustion engines, by application of eco-tribology knowledge. The advantage of aluminum with regard to the specific weight is notable but exist the problem because of the greater thermal expansion coefficient value, causing unacceptable deformations and higher clearances during reciprocating machine operations. From the second side, if we looking generally, most aluminum alloys have lower strength and wear resistance e.g. tribological properties. According to provide the strength of aluminum alloys as well as a least such tribological properties like those of grey cast iron; we analyzed a new concept of surface modification. The results are the patented prototype of the aluminum piston and cylinder applicable inside of reciprocating compressor and engine, which surface is modified for tribo- materials and air plasma spray process.
