Abstract: Functionality compressor valve directly affects the performance and reliability of the reciprocating compressor. The reliability of brake system on the vehicle depends largely on from the correctness of reciprocating compressors. Compressor valves failures leading to a malfunction of the compressor, which could lead to the collapse of the entire brake system. This paper provides an overview of past and some modern of reciprocating compressors valves design. In this paper are defined the conditions and processes that take place within the structure of the valve plate, depending on the processes taking place in the compressor, which can be used for modelling, and further research. In the formation of dynamic models of valves in addition to the valve plate spring force, friction force, the force due to the gas flow, should be taken into consideration and the presence of adhesion forces between the plate and the valve seat or limiter. At the end of the paper are systematized most common causes of bad performance of the valves and their failure on the basis of data from the literature.
