Abstract: In addition to usage of renewable energy sources, the new energy development strategy of the Republic of Serbia includes innovative, energy more efficient and environment friendly technologies. This paper studies the possibility to use cogeneration in brewery industry in order to increase energy efficiency and decrease electric power and heating energy costs. The paper introduces cogeneration with all its advantages and disadvantages and describes the given cogeneration plant. The analysis of the central part of the plant AD Jagodina Brewery included determination of the most optimal cogeneration system with the shortest payment period. The paper presents the calculations and analysis performed using RETScreen sotware. The paper has shown conditions under which it is possible to increase energy efficiency of this plant and achieve financial savings.
