Abstract: Contemporary manufacturing companies secure their existence and conquering new markets through the full implementation of the product lifecycle management (PLM) systems. The so-called CAD/CAM/CAE systems (Computer Aided Design – CAD, Computer Aided Manufacturing – CAM, Computer Aided Engineering – CAE) play a fundamental part of these systems. During the product development process, the attention is mainly focused on the product-related geometrical information (CAD models). In most cases, product development and enhancement are carried out through the modification of the existing product. For this reason, designers should make changes in a simple manner with a minimum effort. This can be achieved by altering parameters which control topological characteristics of the model. However, if systematic method for the creation of products is not implemented, it may lead to the wrong or inconsistent shape of the product that cannot follow functional changes of the original product. In this paper we will show the functional and procedural modelling using macro methodology which demonstrates the application of parametrically defined product models with a reference to currently applied methodologies.
