Abstract: In the paper is pointed to operating conditions of the forging dies, properties of the hard-faced materials, methodology of choosing the optimum technology of hard facing and filler materials. Presented are, as well, the experimental results of testing the influence of the hard facing regime on the output characteristics of the hard-faced forging dies. The cooling rate in the critical temperature interval was determined primarly, and her influence on hardness and microstructure was monitored, i.e. the relationship was established between the input and output characteristics through the corresponding (available) transformations diagrams for the given steel.
