Abstract: Internal combustion engines, represent irreplaceable drivetrains of almost all mobile systems, for many decades. Environmental pollution, due to the increasing usage of vehicles, has led to the need for some alternative drivetrains. Electric and hybrid vehicles are reasonable solution, but not economically cost-effective solutions in respect with IC engines. A better solution, however, may be the application of a fuel that, due to its chemical composition, represents an adequate fuel for IC engines but does not significantly affect on environmental pollution. This fuel can be hydrogen. About hydrogen usage has been discussed over the years and there are various attempts to use hydrogen as fuel for IC engines. The bad characteristic of hydrogen is the high flame speed, which makes it very unfavourable as only fuel. In the paper is presented idea of how hydrogen can be used as the only fuel, tested by numerical simulation, as a test before the experiment.
