Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present innovative methods for developing empathy in primary school students.The suggested methods were primarily developed within the frameworks of psychology and entrepreneurial training and thus are here adapted for teaching Serbian language and literature and for homeroom classes in primary school. The studied methods include: the method of giving feedback o a literary character in four steps, the method of transactional analysis and the method of developing assertive communication. This paper deals with both the theoretical aspects and the practical uses of the aforementioned methods in literary studies and their correlation with the homeroom classroom with the assistance of the school’s psychologist
