The application of biofuels in internal combustion engines is gaining increasing importance from the aspects of improving energy efficiency, reducing the consumption of fossil fuels, and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions. In the field of diesel engines, particular attention has been directed toward the use of biodiesel and its blends with conventional diesel fuel, with the aim of improving the environmental characteristics of the propulsion system while maintaining satisfactory engine performance characteristics. The aim of this paper is to determine the influence of different blending ratios of biodiesel and conventional diesel fuel on exhaust gas temperature. The laboratory testing conducted for the purposes of this study was carried out in an engine testing laboratory equipped with modern measuring and testing equipment intended for the analysis of propulsion and environmental characteristics of internal combustion engines. The applied laboratory equipment enabled precise monitoring and evaluation of relevant operating parameters during the experimental investigation. During the experimental research, exhaust gas temperature parameters were monitored using four different types of fuel, namely biodiesel–diesel fuel blends (BD7, BD15, BD20, and BD30). The obtained results indicate that increasing the concentration of biodiesel in fossil diesel fuel leads to a reduction in exhaust gas temperature. The significance of this study is reflected in the consideration of the possibilities for wider application of biodiesel fuels in modern propulsion systems, as well as in the analysis of their influence on the environmental characteristics of internal combustion engines.en_US
