Abstract: © 2018 IEEE. In this paper we describe two optical methods to estimate Lenke type of scoliosis. To perform accurate determination of the Lenke type, four radiographs of the spine are necessary (standing frontal and sagittal) as well as right and left side-bending). Thus, it is not hard to conclude that for conventional determination of the Lenke type of scoliosis particular attention should be paid to the harmful effect that X-ray radiation brings. The optical methods that we propose are based on an optical 3D scanner device and digital camera and include labeling the key points on the patient's back according to DIERS recommendation.
