Abstract: | The aim of this article is to discover the habits and preferences of Serbian students of the German language and literature regarding the use of dictionaries by means of a survey, in order to underscore the consequences and implications for university teaching. The survey revealed a clear picture: most German language students possess deficient lexicographic skills since they display undifferentiated lookup performance in the selection and use of dictionar- ies, often missing the respective target and purpose. In view of these findings, the paper made proposals for a curricular restructuring that attempts to do justice to all three main areas of study and the corresponding professional profiles (practical language training, translation, GFL-methods/didactics). |
