Abstract: Seamless steel pressure vessels for liquefied gases, are thermal treated by quenching and tempering after the formation of tubes. Tests of the mechanical properties have been conducted on specimens made from bodies and from the vessel neck. In tensile tests, curves of plastic flow of material were recorded. Intensity of hardening deformation is calculated. From the ratio of total elongation and elongation at maximum load is estimated affinity to the brittle fracture. Based on these results it was concluded that the vessel neck characteristics of strength are almost unchanged compared to the body of the vessel, increasing the minimum deformation of the devastation from 12.8% to 15.1%. It was concluded that results of the stress curve flow recording can serve as a preliminary indicator of anomalies that could contribute to unsatisfactory results of the burst test.
