Title: SYNTHESIS AND CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF [Ru-p-cymene-L] COMPLEX

Abstract: The complex [Ru-p-cymene-L], where L = 4-chloro-2-[[(2-hydroxyphenyl)imino] methyl]phenol, was synthesized according to a previously published procedure used for the synthesis of similar complexes [1]. The starting complex [(p-cymene)RuCl2]2 (0.3062 g; 0.5 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (6 mL) and the solid ligand (0.2465 g; 1 mmol) was added to this solution. The resulting mixture was refluxed at 60 °C for 3 hours. The solution was left in the refrigerator overnight, then vacuum filtered and the precipitate dried. The precipitate was recrystallized from DMF and orange crystals of the complex [Ru-p-cymene-L] were obtained (Figure 1). Crystal data: orthorhombic, space group Pbca, a = 11.2308(3), b = 16.4020(4), c = 23.7868(5) Å, V = 4381.71(18) Å3, Z = 8, ρ = 1.569 g cm−3, μ = 0.979 mm−1, R1 = 0.0412, wR = 0.1054.
