Abstract: Agricultural mechanisation is usually powered with internal combustion engine. It is well known that modern trend of IC engine development going towards increasing of power and reduction of fuel consumption and engine pollution. All these parameters are closely correlated with the mass of the moving parts of the engine. Optimization of the mass of engine elements is essential in the design of the engine. Slider–crank mechanism is vital segment of every reciprocating IC engine. It is also most loaded and most important assembly. Because of that, it is useful to determine load and deformation of its components. In this paper can be found load analysis and optimisation of а diesel engine piston with use of finite element method.
