Upravljanje nivoa tečnosti u protočnom rezervoaru veoma je čest zadatak u proizvodnim sistemima. Brojni su primjeri gdje je neophodno nivo održavati na zadatoj vrijednosti cijelim tokom funkcionisanja sistema, kao na primjer: u sistemu za centralno hlađenje SHP sredstva, za galvanizaciju, mašinama za pranje dijelova i sl.
